Georgia made a strong impression on top 2023 quarterback recruit Arch Manning on Saturday. Manning, the top recruit in the 2023 class by almost every outlet, visited Georgia during the Bulldogs’ game against South Carolina on Saturday night. On3 rates Manning as a five-star prospect and the No. 1 recruit in the Class of 2023.

Manning’s visit to Georgia left a strong impression

247Sports’ Director of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong believes that Georgia is in a great position right now to land Manning, although there is a lot of time left in his recruiting cycle. Arch is the son of Cooper Manning, the nephew of Peyton and Eli Manning, and the grandson of Archie Manning.

“He loves Georgia,” Wiltfong said of Manning. “I think he had a fantastic visit there this summer, likes the pro-style offense they run, and told me that Athens is the best college town that he’s been to. And then you go to a game on Saturday night against South Carolina, and the fans and the student section obviously made him feel welcome. Talking a little bit to the family after the trip, they just reiterated what a great town it is in Georgia. And a close relationship with (offensive line coach) Matt Luke. Matt Luke, obviously the former head coach at Ole Miss where Arch’s family has so many ties.

“So they know coach Luke, (head coach) Kirby Smart played against Peyton Manning. They’ve known Kirby for a long time. There’s just a lot of connections there that the Manning family has with the Georgia staff. I think Georgia is in a terrific position to land Arch. But it’s still early in the process and he’s going to take some other visits this fall and just continue to see what he likes.”

Georgia fans painted their body to say “We want Arch” across their backs on Saturday. Fans undoubtedly want the highly touted Manning to join the Bulldogs. Manning has thrown for more than 4,000 yards and 55 touchdowns through two high school seasons at Isidore Newman High School in New Orleans.

Manning has established himself as an intriguing top recruit

Many teams have offered Manning, including Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, LSU, Ole Miss, Texas, Tennessee, and many others. On3’s Director of Scouting Charles Power said that while Manning is only entering his junior year of high school, he deserves all of the attention he’s getting in his recruitment.

“The scion of one of America’s top sporting families has already become one of the more well-known football recruits in the nation despite just entering the 11th grade,” Power said. “Despite the amount of external attention, Arch Manning has continued to show he’s deserving of the lofty status… He burst on the scene as with a big freshman season and showed continued physical progression last fall.”
