The recruitment of Dripping Springs (Texas) quarterback and Baylor commit Austin Novosad is kicking into high gear. After receiving an offer from Ohio State and visiting the Buckeyes two weekends ago, two new teams have entered into the mix.

Earlier today, On3’s Sam Spiegelman confirmed a report that Novosad would take an unofficial visit to Texas A&M this weekend.

Spiegelman has also learned that Novosad quietly took a visit to Georgia on Wednesday. The Bulldogs lost out Thursday morning on Five-Star Plus+ quarterback Arch Manning when he committed to Texas, and haven’t been seriously tied to any other passers in this class to this point.

Whether or not the pursuit of Novosad culminates in an offer remains to be seen. On3’s Chad Simmons said earlier Thursday that it isn’t a certainty Georgia takes a quarterback this cycle.

“With a quarterback room that already includes Carson BeckBrock Vandagriff, and Gunner Stockton, they feel comfortable right now.”

The next few weeks will be telling as it relates to Novosad. He doesn’t currently have any visits outside of Texas A&M scheduled, and will head to the Elite 11 Finals in Los Angeles next week.

Austin Novosad Scouting Summary

“Stat-stuffing pure pocket passer with clean mechanics and the ability to throw with timing and touch. Plays in an air-it-out system at the high school level that puts up tons of points. Completed 63.6 percent of his passes for 3,399 yards and 40 touchdowns against 9 interceptions at 10.39 yards per attempt as a junior. Has a natural, tight throwing motion and spins the ball well. Most comfortable when sitting back and delivering from the pocket. Shows nuance as a passer with the ability to deliver well-located throws to all levels.

… Has room to add mass to his 6-foot-3, 185-pound frame. Tests as a solid athlete, running a 4.87 second 40-yard dash and jumping 34 inches in the vertical. Can do a better job of translating that athleticism to the field. Has not been much of a playmaker outside of the pocket to this point. Rushed for -27 yards as a junior, the highest-rated 2023 quarterback with a negative rushing total.” — Charles Power, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings
