Georgia Bulldogs defensive tackle Jordan Davis has earned his first NIL deal after being named Gorilla Glue Toughest Player on Planet Earth. Davis was given his award by the Rich Eisen Show where he spoke about his football career so far. Davis earned $1,000 and an NIL deal with Gorilla Glue.

Jordan Davis’ first NIL deal

After being congratulated as the first ever recipient of the new Gorilla Glue award, Davis told the Rich Eisen Show that this was his first NIL deal.

When asked about the dominant defensive performance Georgia displayed against Clemson, Davis highlighted the preparation they put into the game.

“Honestly, we just prepared all summer. This was one of those games we know we needed to have. Our level of preparation just showed up on game day. Everybody talked about the other team, during the week we just talked about ourselves. We game planned around ourselves and our strengths as a defense. We just go out on the field and just want to play our heart out. And that’s what we did.”

Georgia’s defense held Clemson to only 180 yards of total offense and a mere two yards rushing. Jordan Davis’ presence on the defensive line was the reason he won his first NIL deal.

In a fun moment from a follow-up question by Eisen, Davis explained why he wears the number 99 on the field.

“Actually, I wore 99 because in high school that was the biggest jersey they had,” explained Davis. He went on to say that former Pittsburgh Steelers safety Troy Polamalu was one of his football inspirations despite not playing that position.

“I just want to be able to make my mom proud,” continued Davis. “After the game, over the weekend, I received a lot of accolades and everything but the one that really stuck out to me was when I got a text from my mom. She was like, ‘I’m so proud of you.’ And I saw her after the game and I was able to give her a hug.”

SEC Player of the Week honors

While Jordan Davis won his first NIL deal, Davis’ teammate Christopher Smith won the SEC week one defensive Player of the Week honor for his interception for a touchdown that would be the only touchdown scored in the entire game. Davis himself was named one of two defensive linemen of the week for his own efforts. Davis recorded three tackles, two tackles for a loss and one sack.

Clemson only managed 180 yards of total offense thanks to Georgia’s defense, and a defensive line anchored by Davis held them to only two yards on the ground.

After securing a victory over a top-five ranked team, Georgia is seemingly set on a crash course for Alabama. When asked if he’s ready for that matchup, Davis said if they continue to win and meet Alabama it will be special.

“It’s definitely going to be something special,” Davis promised.
