For the second time in as many years, Georgia is once again on top of the college football mountain. The Bulldog players have the honorable distinction as some of the few players of all-time that have won back-to-back championships, let alone two titles period. After the win over TCU earlier this week, senior running back Kenny McIntosh was soaking it all in during media.

As he smoked a celebratory cigar, McIntosh talked about the feeling of being able to win back-to-back titles. He said this level of success is what he expected when he committed to play for Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs and it’s all been possible because of the camaraderie that Smart has built within his program.

“Just for us to be here for the second time? Back-to-back?…It’s an amazing feeling,” said McIntosh through a cloud of smoke. “I’ve been waiting for this since I got out of high school. I always wanted to come to a winning team. And I knew Georgia was in the right position to succeed in the future. And I wanted to be a part of it.”

“It’s really what made me come here. Having that faith in Kirby, talking to him? He just kept it so real and I fell in love with that. How he treats his players,” McIntosh said as he relit his cigar. “It just really brought us closer, made us closer with us wanting to play for a guy like that.”

Georgia was more dominant this season than anyone ever expected. After losing several key players from the 14-1 team in 2021, this team went undefeated at 15-0 while also adding an SEC Championship, something last year’s team didn’t do, along with their pair of wins in the CFP.

In the end, McIntosh’s sentiments appear to echo throughout the locker room in Athens. Smart has built something special within his first head coaching job and, as of now, it doesn’t appear that it’s slowing down. It has earned him, his staff, and his players a pair of national titles already and, if they keep it rolling, may add a third to their trophy case even sooner than maybe even we all expect.
