Miami Norland four-star running back Javin Simpkins has announced his decommitment from Georgia Tech. He previously committed to the Yellow Jackets on July 25.

Simpkins is the No. 367 overall prospect and No. 28 running back in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 71 player in Florida.

“First off, I want to thank God for blessing me with… this opportunity to play the sport I love but after a long conversation with my family, I have decided to decommit from the Institute of Georgia Tech and open up my recruitment to all schools!” Simpkins wrote in a statement published to social media.

The 5-foot-8, 175-pound tailback has now decommitted from Georgia Tech twice. He previously backed off his pledge to the Yellow Jackets in December before re-committing to the program over the summer.

Simpkins was previously the highest-ranked prospect in the Yellow Jackets’ 2023 recruiting class. That title now belongs to Kennesaw (Ga.) North Cobb Christian School three-star interior offensive lineman Gabriel Fortson, the No. 572 overall prospect in the On3 Consensus.

A Florida native, Simpkins currently holds 13 offers. Programs on that list include Ole Miss, Texas and Texas A&M.

Michigan State is one of his newest offers, as the Spartans extended one on Oct. 28. Simpkins’ announcement of his offer from Michigan State is currently pinned on his Twitter profile. The Spartans are in search of a running back commit after New Caney (Texas) four-star Kedrick Reescano decommitted from head coach Mel Tucker and his staff on Oct. 27.

So far, Simpkins has taken two official visits. They were to Louisville on June 17 and Arkansas on June 24.

Simpkins has an On3 NIL Valuation of $17.4K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
