The coaching carousel has really gotten going today with college football’s regular season wrapped up. Matt Rhule found his way to Nebraska to start the weekend. Wisconsin then made a splash by prying Luke Fickell away from Cincinnati on Sunday. Now, it seems Georgia Tech wants to be next in line to have their search wrapped up this weekend.

Per The Athletic’s Jeff Schultz, the Yellow Jackets are trying to get a deal done with Tulane‘s Wille Fritz. Both sides are reportedly still discussing some of the terms of the contract. Regardless, their goal is to have him locked up by the end of the day.

Fritz just wrapped up his seventh season at Tulane with this season being his most successful. His career record with the Green Wave is 41-45 but, in 2022, they finished the regular season 10-2. They beat Kansas State early, ended the year with a win over Cincinnati, and spent the final six weeks of the season ranked in the AP Poll. All that success this season was capped with Friday’s win over the Bearcats, which won the program the American Conference’s regular season crown.

A lot of the focus for the Yellow Jackets early seemed to fall on Alabama OC Bill O’Brien. With years of coaching experience, specifically in the NFL, he has been an obvious candidate for several programs looking for new leadership. However, the conversations between Tech O’Brien had slowed to the point where, now, they want to move quickly on Fritz.

Fritz finally got Tulane over the hump after a pair of successful seasons at Georgia Southern in 2014 and 2015. That seems to have been enough to win over the Yellow Jackets and lead them to be so insistent in ensuring this is completed before the start of the new week.
