Five-star offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor of Des Moines (IA) Southeast Polk announced his commitment to Iowa Thursday afternoon.

The 6-foot-6, 318 pounder chose the Hawkeyes over Alabama.

Iowa checked every box for Proctor

“I’m big on relationships,” Proctor said. “When I have coaches that don’t only check up on me, but my family and girlfriend as well it means a lot. As far as playing, I think everyone knows either school I went to were great offensive line schools, and to have one that’s an hour and a half away is kind of a no brainer.”

“Also back to relationships, nobody wants to lose their high school friends but most people do and for me being close to Iowa, a lot of the people I know will be right beside me at Iowa too. Adding to that I really would love for people to watch me and the team so being that close means family, friends, etc. can easily get to the games.”

Kadyn Proctor on Iowa producing offensive linemen

“As an offensive lineman there are limited schools as to saying it’s an offensive line producer,” Proctor said. “When I see that Iowa is one of those schools, I had to go with it. Growing up not being a fan of either Iowa or Iowa state made me want to have a favorite college team, and gradually got into watching the Hawks and the success that have had with mostly 2-4 stars. Why not be a 5 star and be the best one there ever was to walk that field?”

Kadyn Proctor is the highest ranked recruit to commit to Iowa in modern ranking era history.

Proctor Scouting Summary

“Wide, physically-developed offensive tackle who excels as a mauling run blocker,” On3’s Director of Scouting Charles Power wrote. “Dominant at the point of attack, using strong and quick hands to neutralize opposing defensive linemen. Plays with a nasty mentality as a block finisher, planting defensive linemen in the ground with regularity. Moves well and shows his athleticism as a defensive lineman.

Proctor ranks as the No. 5 player in the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that accounts for all four major recruiting sites. He also tabs in as the No. 1 offensive tackle and the No. 1 player in the state of Iowa.
