Few days have been bigger in the history of Iowa football than this one. The Hawkeyes received their highest-ranked commitment ever on Thursday from Des Moines Southeast Polk offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor.

Kirk Ferentz and Co. beat out the likes of Alabama, Oregon, Penn State and Notre Dame to keep the No. 5 overall player in the On3 Consensus home.

Proctor’s commitment also gave the Hawkeyes a massive bump in the On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings, pushing them from No. 28 nationally all the way to No. 16. With him in the fold, they jumped Florida, Florida State, Texas A&M, LSU and a number of others.

He joins a class heavy on in-state products — six commits are within Iowa’s borders — but also has some out-of-state flair. In addition to Proctor, the Hawkeyes have blue-chip commitments from four-star Englewood (Colo.) Chase Brackney, Naples (Fla.) running back Kendrick Rapheal and Skillman (N.J.) quarterback Marco Lainez III.

Last year, Iowa finished No. 30 nationally and No. 6 in the Big Ten team rankings, but are looking to make a move toward the top of the Big Ten with this crop.
