Lucas (Texas) Lovejoy four-star linebacker Payton Pierce received an offer from Kansas on Sunday night. He announced the news on social media.

Pierce is the No. 133 overall prospect and No. 14 linebacker in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 22 player in Texas.

The 6-foot-1, 210 pound prospect currently has 29 offers. He took an unofficial visit to Oklahoma on Sept. 24 and one to Texas on Sept. 10.

According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, it is a close race for his commitment. The Longhorns lead for Pierce’s pledge at 29.8%, while the Sooners have the next-best odds at 19.7%. Baylor, who received an unofficial visit from Pierce on July 30, holds the third-highest chance at 11.4%.

RPM was released to the public in December. The On3 engineering group teamed up with Spiny.ai to create the industry’s first algorithm and machine learning-based product to predict where athletes will attend college.

It factors in machine learning, social sentiment, visits and historical trends. However, expert predictions are still a big piece of the RPM equation.

Kansas does not have any commitments in its 2024 recruiting class. Meanwhile, the Jayhawks’ 2023 class is No. 86 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 10 in the Big 12.

Pierce has an On3 NIL Valuation of $65K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
