Based on how he’s feeling following warmups, Kansas could play quarterback Jalon Daniels against Oklahoma State, Action Network’s Brett McMurphy reports.

Daniels has missed the past two games due to an injury suffered against TCU on Oct. 8, and Jason Bean has started in his place. Bean is 0-2 as a starter and completed 32-of-54 passes for 497 yards, five touchdowns and two interceptions.

Bean is still expected to start on Saturday regardless, but Daniels could push to see the field depending on how pregame goes.

Before his injury, Daniels had led the Jayhawks to a 5-0 start and even had ESPN’s College GameDay host their matchup against the Horned Frogs. Kansas hasn’t been the same without the dynamic dual-threat quarterback, and has gone from one of the hottest teams in college football to a near afterthought in his absence.

Oklahoma State vs Kansas odds see significant change as game nears

The Oklahoma State Cowboys are no longer favorites in Las Vegas for their Saturday showdown versus the Kansas Jayhawks

The 6-2 squad could be facing the 5-3 Jayhawks without star quarterback Spencer Sanders after he was banged up in Week 9 action versus Kansas State.

Sanders’ potential absence has Kansas fans hammering the line, which has moved from 3.5 at the open to a pick ’em on Thursday.

On Monday, Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy hinted that his QB1 may not available.

“I hope he’s doing good,” Gundy said on Monday. “We’re gonna rest him some this week and try to get him back, get him going, just like we’ve been doing.”

The head coach doesn’t anticipate needing to change the game plan if Sanders can’t play.

“The guys that we have here, all of our guys practice the same way, practice the same plays,” Gundy said. “Very similar to Kansas. So if you look at the games that the other quarterback played in, just recently, they’re running the same plays and we run the same plays.”
