The undefeated Kansas Jayhawks football team has been the Cinderella story of the 2022 college football season, and it seems the shoe is beginning to fit for quarterback Jalon Daniels Heisman Trophy odds.

After defeated Duke 35-27 and improving to 4-0 on the season, Daniels’ name was inserted in the Heisman Trophy odds at 75-1. Just days later, those odds have already improved to 40-1. With all the attention on him, he deflected the praise back on his teammates like any great leader should.

“Just keep going in with that same mindset of, you know, just getting that, that one percent better mentality every day,” Daniels said. “At the end of the day, it’s a team effort. I don’t do this by myself. To be able to see the amount of preparation that we put in this whole entire offseason, it’s finally paying off. We love to see it.”

Those odds are backed up by his stellar stat sheet, too. Boasting the No. 1 QBR in the nation at 98.0, Daniels has already tossed a career best 890 yards this season to go along with an 11-1 touchdown-to-interception ratio. Accounting for four more scores on 320 yards on the ground, Daniels has quickly solidified himself as one of the top dual-threat quarterbacks in the country this season.

Some people are so confident in Daniels’ Heisman campaign that one bettor placed a $25,000 bet for the Kansas QB to win the award. Their bet stands at 33-1 odds and would pay out $825,000. If the Jayhawks keep the momentum going, those odds could continue to shrink by the week.

Daniels and the Jayhawks will look to continue their undefeated season at home against Big 12 foe Iowa State. Kickoff is slated for 3:30 p.m. ET with ESPN carrying the national broadcast.
