Findlay (Ohio) four-star 2025 quarterback Ryan Montgomery has been busy on the recruiting trail over the past year.

He has already taken numerous campus visits as one of the country’s top sophomore quarterbacks, tripping to Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, Georgia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Clemson and more.

This weekend, he’ll be back at Kentucky for the third time as a recruit, but he’ll be seeing some new faces. New Kentucky offensive coordinator Liam Coen had not yet started recruiting Montgomery when he was previously with the Wildcats, but will now lead his recruitment after taking over for Rich Scangarello.

Montgomery had developed a strong relationship with Scangarello, but is looking forward to spending time with Coen and learning more about his offense. Coen was the Wildcats’ offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in 2021, when Kentucky finished 10-3 and Will Levis broke out as one of college football’s rising stars.

Montgomery has no timeline for his decision process right now with nearly two years until he can sign with a school. He told On3 this fall that he plans to commit before his senior year, but could also move that up if he finds the right fit.

“Obviously, I don’t want to rush the decision at all,” he said. “So I would say I was looking at committing sometime before my senior year. I definitely would like to do that, just so I can have my senior year to myself, not have to worry about anything, just have fun with my guys. But, it could be next year, but I could also really hold off and wait til after my senior year. We just never know.”
