Former South Carolina quarterback Stephen Garcia, who was most recently playing football Birmingham Iron in 2019, called Kentucky‘s Kroger Field one of the easiest venues to play at in the SEC.

“It’s not a hard place to play in,” Garcia said. “I would say Vanderbilt‘s probably the other easy one to play in.”

South Carolina hasn’t won a football game in Lexington in 10 years. In fact, Kentucky has defeated the Gamecocks in seven of the last eight years with the exception coming in Columbia in 2019.

The Kentucky football team and the Kroger Field – or Commonwealth Stadium when Garcia played – is a completely different one than it is now. Mark Stoops took the program from an SEC bottom-feeder into a 10-win team on multiple occasions, a mark South Carolina hasn’t hit since 2013.

Mark Stoops: There’s a chance JJ Weaver returns in Week 6

Kentucky left their loss against Ole Miss this weekend pretty banged up. That means they could really use some positive news or some reinforcements ahead of this weekend against South Carolina. One of those reinforcements could come in the form of JJ Weaver, who Mark Stoops provided an update on today.

During his press conference today, Stoops shared some quick thoughts on Weaver’s status. He said there is at least a chance the junior linebacker could return this weekend against the Gamecocks.

“Getting better. Getting better. (There’s) chances we’ll see him,” said Stoops.

Weaver has missed Kentucky’s last two games against Northern Illinois and Ole Miss. With some new injuries to the Wildcat linebackers, Weaver’s return could be imperative for UK. While it’s no sure thing yet, this is a potential step in the right direction for Kentucky on the injury front.
