For the second straight cycle, Kentucky has landed a commitment from the top receiver in the state of Tennessee. First, it was Barion Brown in the 2022 class. This time, it’s four-star Nashville (Tenn.) Ensworth wideout Shamar Porter, who announced his commitment to the Wildcats Friday.

Porter is the No. 151 prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 25 wide receiver and the No. 2 junior prospect in Tennessee.

On3’s own rankings are significantly higher on Porter, listing him as the nation’s No. 60 overall prospect, No. 7 wide receiver and No. 2 prospect in Tennessee.

The 6-foot-3, 200-pounder chose the Wildcats over offers from Ole Miss, Georgia, Penn State, Cincinnati, Tennessee and a number of others. He is Kentucky’s third commitment in the 2023 class, joining athletes Ty Bryant and Kaden Moorman.
