Kentucky has fired running backs coach and co-special teams coordinator John Settle, LEX 18’s BBN Tonight reported. UK finished second to last in the SEC in rushing this season.

Settle’s deal was set to expire after the 2023 season, but after a mediocre showing from his running back room – other than Chris Rodriguez – head coach Mark Stoops and company decided it was best to move on from the second-year UK coach.

Before arriving in Lexington, Settle spent six seasons with the Wisconsin Badgers, most recently helping develop Jonathan Taylor into the NFL star he is today.

Settle’s firing is one of several coaching changes expected on the offensive side of the ball over the offseason for Kentucky. After hopes of attaining as high as a Sugar Bowl berth at one point, UK finished 7-5 through the regular season thanks to an offense that was inept for the latter half of the season.

DeMarcus Harris enters the NCAA Transfer Portal

Kentucky wide receiver DeMarcus Harris has entered the NCAA transfer portal.

Harris has been a weapon for the Wildcats for 4 years, a member of the team for the past three bowl wins and part of a Kentucky team that appeared in the top-25 AP rankings during the past three seasons. Harris finishes his time with Kentucky having caught 30 passes for 327 yards and a touchdown, appearing in 27 games for the Wildcats.

Harris played high school football at Vero Beach in Florida, where he was a three-star prospect.
