Jaremiah Anglin picked up a couple of offers between his sophomore and junior year, but it was early in 2022 that his recruitment took off. In January, the 6-foot, 180-pound safety out of Lake Wales (Fla.) picked up double-digit offers. He did the same in February.

Quickly, the No. 230 prospect in the On300 became one of the top prospects in the Sunshine State. He was adding offers, taking visits, and he started to evaluate schools.

Early on, a commitment to Florida State crossed his mind. Florida was on his radar too. But as he progressed through the recruiting process, he started to focus on out-of-state schools. It came down to Kentucky, Pittsburgh, Oklahoma, and UCF.

Each school gave him something to think about, but he just couldn’t get his mind off the Wildcats.

“I went on all the visits and I knew Kentucky was the place for me as a player and as a person,” Anglin told On3. “The coaches at Kentucky care about their players. A lot of schools don’t invest time into the person, but Kentucky did with me. They made it known to me that they didn’t want me, but that they needed me.

“Who the coaches are, what they are about, and how they made me feel were very important. A lot of schools stayed in communication with me, but Kentucky really made me feel different.

“It is the best school for me.”

Anglin believes in the Kentucky coaches

Chris Collins was the lead recruiter for Anglin. The defensive backs coach and the No. 22 safety in the country hit it off immediately.

Linebackers coach Mike Stoops and head coach Mark Stoops were involved with Anglin too.

The new commit believes in his future coaching staff.

“We aren’t done with this recruiting class,” Anglin said. “We already have a strong class, but we are going to add more. The coaches have a great plan and they know what they are doing.

“They are strong on defense, they compete hard, and the coaches know how to recruit. Coach Collins got to know me, my family, he talked with my brother, and he knows how to connect with people.

“The coaches at Kentucky are great people.”

The versatility of Anglin appealed to Kentucky. They see him as a defensive back that can play cornerback, nickel or safety in their 4-2-5 scheme. Anglin likes the opportunities in front of him on the field.

“With the defense Kentucky runs, they keep five defensive backs on the field at all times. They think I can come in and play right away. They see me getting on the field and helping the team as a true freshman.

“I am excited about the opportunity I have at Kentucky. I get to play in the SEC and go against future first-round picks every week. The culture, the scheme, the people, and the level of competition really excite me. I am going to chase my dreams to play in the NFL at Kentucky.”
