Sahvir Wheeler provided an update on his ankle injury following Kentucky‘s win over Ole Miss on Tuesday.

To illustrate, Wheeler was following Ole Miss guard TJ Caldwell and turned his right ankle as he tried to squeeze between two players near the top of the key. The toe of his right shoe caught on Caldwell’s heel and he rolled over on it.

Following the roll, Wheeler hit the deck and was favoring his right ankle, clearly in pain. The game went to commercial break as Wheeler was helped into the locker room.

“I sprained it a little bit on the first half, rolled it on another player’s foot, but I’m gonna be alright,” Wheeler stated afterwards, via Tyler Thompson of KSR. “Gonna get treatment tomorrow with Geoffrey [Stanton] and come up a game plan to get better, get it healthy.”

Thankfully, Wheeler gave Kentucky faithful a positive update, revealing he’s going to be okay following the injury.

In addition to Wheeler, Kentucky was already missing third leading scorer Cason Wallace during the game due to a leg injury. However, they were still able to pull out the victory over the Rebels.

Leading the way against Ole Miss was none other than Antonio Reeves, who amassed 27 points in Kentucky’s latest SEC victory. Additionally, Jacob Toppin‘s 17 points helped as well, as the Wildcats took care of business.

Now, Kentucky will turn their attention towards Florida, as they Wildcats will welcome the Gators to Lexington this weekend. As for the Rebels, Ole Miss will look to snap a four-game losing streak as they face Vanderbilt this weekend.

Regardless, a tough start to the season seems like a long time ago, as Kentucky has rebounded nicely thus far in 2023. Hopefully the Wildcats can get Sahvir Wheeler and Cason Wallace back on the court as soon as possible, and utilize the momentum they’re building at the moment.
