Wan’Dale Robinson’s first reception as a Kentucky Wildcat is a memorable one. Robinson transferred to Kentucky in the offseason after two seasons at Nebraska. In Kentucky’s first game of the 2021 season on Saturday, quarterback Will Levis found Robinson and connected on a 33-yard touchdown to tie the game at 7-7.

Levis found Robinson wide open running towards the left sideline and the two connected on a big score  in the first quarter. Robinson lined up in the slot on the right side of the field, but he showed off his tremendous speed, beating two defenders over the middle of the field  with ease before finding himself wide open in the endzone.

Robinson could be a big addition for Kentucky’s offense

As a freshman at Nebraska in 2019, Robinson saw plenty of touches. He carried the ball 88 times for 340 yards and three touchdowns. Robinson also caught 40 balls for 453 yards and two touchdowns and returned 14 kickoffs for 236 yards.

Last season, Robinson saw 97 touches for 701 total yards and two touchdowns. In his two seasons at Nebraska, Robinson had 580 rushing yards, 914 receiving yards, and 1,725 all-purpose yards.

Any versatile weapon with the ability to impact an offense in multiple ways will be a welcome addition to a football team. For Kentucky, getting Robinson is something that was possible during his original recruitment. ESPN’s Tom VanHaaren ranked Robinson as one of the ten most impactful additions in college football.

“There was a time in his initial recruitment when it seemed as if Robinson was going to sign with Kentucky,” VanHaaren said. “Nebraska was able to land him, though, with the hopes that he would help transform the offense. He showed flashes of his potential — 461 receiving yards in eight games — but Nebraska’s offense never really got going. Now, Robinson is at Kentucky, and although the Wildcats’ offense wasn’t turning heads last season either, the coaches are hoping Robinson can prove to be a versatile playmaker to help improve multiple areas of the offense.”
