Kentucky quarterback Will Levis is currently spending the weekend at the Manning Passing Academy. He arrived at Nicholls State in Louisiana and will be amongst the 45 participants at the event until Sunday. His selection for the event is just the latest honor and exposure the Wildcat quarterback has garnered this offseason.

Analysts have tabbed UK’s signal caller as one of the best in the country after his breakout junior season. Levis helped lead the Wildcats to a 10-3 record and a Citrus Bowl win with 2,826 passing yards and 33 total touchdowns. Meanwhile, projections ahead of his senior season have listed him as a Heisman hopeful and one of the top quarterbacks for the 2023 NFL Draft. Some have even subsequently listed him as the potential No. 1 pick in Kansas City next spring.

Levis said at the event that he has been honored by the assessment. In his eyes, though, it’ll only happen if Kentucky can be successful as a team next season.

“It’s definitely cool. I don’t actively look for that kind of stuff, but I can’t not see it. So when I see it, it makes you reflect on those times when it wasn’t even a question for some people. That’s something that I’ve always known deep down in my heart that I strived to be. I know there’s a lot of people that doubt me and I know that I’ve got a lot more people to prove wrong,” said Levis. “That’s all I’m doing right now, just working on getting the team ready for the year. As long as we have a good year, the team success is what matters most, all the individual stuff will come after that.”

As far as goals for his Kentucky team this season, Levis has made it unquestionably plain and simple. He has repeatedly stated he wants the Wildcats to win the SEC Championship in 2022. It starts with what they do in the summertime. From there, Levis is focused on having a date on December 3rd in Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

“One hundred percent. One hundred percent. That’s what we’ve been working on, that’s what we’ve been breaking it down on on all our workouts,” he said. “We want to be in Atlanta in December, and that’s the goal.”

If the work he does this summer is what will get them there, picking up a thing or two from some of the best quarterbacks in the country may not be a bad place to start. Levis and his team’s progress toward SEC contention will be on display September 3rd when they open against Miami (OH).
