Louisville extended an offer Sunday to Indianapolis Lawrence Central four-star EDGE Joshua Mickens.

Mickens is the No. 80 recruit in the 2023 On3 Top 100 and the best player in the state of Indiana.

As one of the top EDGEs in the Midwest, Joshua Mickens is being pursued by many of the top programs in the area. He holds offers from Cincinnati, Indiana, Iowa, Iowa State, Michigan, Michigan State, Missouri, Purdue, Tennessee and Wisconsin.

He was in Iowa City, Iowa, last weekend for the Hawkeyes monumental victory over Penn State.

Joshua Mickens is the son of Butler football legend

Joshua Mickens‘ father, Arnold Mickens, was a standout player at Butler in the 1990s.

He transferred to Butler from Indiana and immediately became one of the best players in FCS football. Playung two seasons for the Bulldogs, Mickens was named to the All-American team in both seasons and ended with his career with 18 Division I-AA records.

Many of those records came during the 1994 season, when he rushed for an FCS-record 2,255 rushing yards in 10 games. He averaged 40.9 carries per game, 225.5 yards per game and rushed for 200-plus yards in eight straight contests. All three are still FCS records.

In one game against Valparaiso on Oct. 15, 1994, Mickens carried the ball a record 56 times and at one point carried the ball 26 straight times over six series.

Despite the nearly three decades since his career, Arnold Mickens’ name is still all over the FCS record book. He is the subdivision’s all-time leader in 14 different categories.
