Baltimore (Md.) St. Frances Academy four-star EDGE Dashawn Womack committed to LSU on July 4. Not much has changed since then regarding his relationship with the Tigers.

“What’s different from before is that I have committed to them,” Womack told On3. “I showed that I committed to them, so they don’t have to worry about other schools trying to get me. Schools are still trying to come in and get me, telling me to flip.”

Two of those programs are Georgia and Ole Miss. Womack talks to their coaches out of respect, but emphasizes that he is still locked in with LSU. The pass rusher speaks with the Tigers’ coaches every other day, including after his practices and games.

Womack has not been back to Baton Rouge since before his commitment. However, that will change this fall when he visits Tiger Stadium on Oct. 22 for the Tigers’ contest against the Rebels.

“It just felt like home,” Womack said about why he chose LSU “It just feel(s) like, I don’t even know how to explain it. I fit right in with the other players. I fit with in the staff and I can fit the defense, of course.”

When the 6-foot-4, 245 pound prospect watches LSU, he pays close attention to how the EDGE is utilized in the Tigers’ defensive system.

“I watch the guys at my position and see how they play, how they run through the plays and stuff like that,” said Womack, the No. 28 overall prospect and No. 5 EDGE in the 2023 On300. “I just envision myself making those plays.”

LSU’s coaches, culture and environment are key reasons for why Womack is still committed to the Tigers. Regarding LSU’s first year under Brian Kelly, the four-star has been told that LSU is going to be “bad” this season following a season-opening loss to Florida State.

However, those comments have no impact on the decision of Maryland’s top prospect. Womack will be playing his college football for the Tigers, and he can’t wait for the possible opportunity to “make a change.” Additionally, he believes in Kelly.

“Of course, they’re gonna have a struggle,” Womack said. “It’s a new coach, so it’s something new. They(‘re) just bringing it all together.”
