LSU Tigers returning offensive lineman Anthony Bradford joined On3’s Billy Embody on The Bengal Tiger podcast this week and discussed the hottest topic surrounding the program this summer: the quarterback competition.

The quarterback competition has been among the most fierce in the country as newcomers Jayden Daniels and Walker Howard compete with returners Myles Brennan and Garrett Nussmeier for snaps.

“I feel like the quarterback situation, everybody’s getting better together,” Bradford said. “They take a piece of the game for each other. I feel like this quarterback room is really special to me. I’m excited to see what they do when they compete in fall camp.”

Brian Kelly and his new staff appear in no rush to name a starting quarterback with the amount of depth in the room. After the spring game, the Tigers head coach made it clear the competition is still very much open.

“We didn’t clear anything up today with the quarterback,” Kelly said after the spring game in Baton Rouge. “We probably made it more difficult.”

Anthony Bradford predicts breakout players for LSU

With training camp right around the corner, it’s not too early to talk about potential breakout stars for the 2022 college football season. Bradford listed his candidates recently, and it might not be a player fans would initially think about. He dropped two names, naturally on the offensive line, that fans should expect to hear a lot in 2022: Charles Turner and Cameron Wire.

“There’s a couple of us,” Bradford said. “Charles Turner, for sure. … We’ve been here, we came in at the same time, we’ve been grinding. I’ve been talking to him every day. That’s my right-hand man. I know his passion for the game, I know what he wants for himself and for the team. So I feel like that’s a big breakout name that y’all [are] going to be hearing a lot this year.

“Cameron Wire, he played a lot last year, but I feel like he’s got some more stuff to put out there on the table for people to see. That’s another name that y’all should be looking out for this year.”

Turner and Wire were both four-star recruits out of high school. Wire was the No. 25 offensive lineman from the class of 2018 and Turner was the nation’s No. 29 lineman prospect in 2019, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
