UAB has a lot they have to handle in order to compete against LSU this weekend. The No. 6 team in the nation has a Top-40 offense, a Top-30 defense, and the most momentum of any squad in the country at the moment. If the Blazers want to have a shot, Bryant Vincent believes keeping Jayden Daniels under wraps will be key.

Vincent spoke about the importance of slowing Daniels’ roll during his press conference earlier this week. He says that the experienced Tiger quarterback has been a central point in his team’s success this year.

“I think it’s critical. Daniels is an electric quarterback. He’s an experienced quarterback, a four year starter. He was a three-year starter at Arizona State. Now, he’s starting and having a great year at LSU,” said Vincent. “He’s led them to all their big wins this year, their sixth ranking, and an opportunity to play in the SEC Championship.”

Daniels is completing a career-high 68.9% of his passes and has thrown for 2,080 yards, 14 touchdowns, and only two interceptions in 2022. He also has a pair of career-highs on the ground with 150 attempts and 10 touchdowns too with 629 rushing yards.

His dynamic style, especially this year in Baton Rouge, has put him and LSU on the national stage. It’s also the challenge that Vincent wants his defense to lock in on Saturday.

“I think he’s electric. He’s accurate, can make all the throws. He can beat you with his arm and he can beat you with his legs. And he’s also an experienced veteran,” said Vincent. “It’s gonna be a big challenge for our defense just like it is every week but, obviously, this one’s gonna be on a bigger stage. This is a challenge our defense is looking forward to.”

Daniels and LSU have come a long way to get to this level this season. However, Vincent and UAB have every intention of coming into Tiger Stadium and playing spoiler tomorrow night, which starts with taking Daniels out of the game the best that they can.
