Buccaneers LB Devin White graduates from LSU

Tampa Bay Buccaneers and former LSU Tiger linebacker Devin White has accomplished a lot this year.

The 23-year old won a Super Bowl ring in February and on Friday, he announced he graduated from LSU with his bachelor’s degree in Sports Administration.

“I’m Officially a Graduate From @LSU,” White tweeted. “Such a Huge Accomplishment #GeauxTigers”

LSU Football’s twitter account congratulated White, posting pictures of the linebacker in his cap and gown around the campus he suited up at from 2016-2018.

Former LSU players and ESPN analysts Marcus Spears and Booger MCFarland took to Twitter to congratulate White.

“My man,” McFarland tweeted. “Congrats. Welcome to the club”

White is one of the best players to come out of the storied LSU program.

Coming out of North Webster High School, Devin White was a four-star recruit in the 2016 recruiting class.

As a freshman, White appeared in eight games and finished with 30 total tackles. He stepped into a much larger role as a sophomore. In 12 games, White led the SEC in tackles with 133. He followed it up with a 123 tackle and three forced fumble performance as a junior. In his LSU career, White received First-team All-SEC honors in 2017 and 2018. He won the Butkus award in 2018, an award given to the top linebacker in college. He was also a Consensus All-American as a junior.

White declared for the NFL Draft after the 2018 season.

He was drafted fifth overall in the 2019 NFL Draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Devin White joined Lavonte David and Shaquil Barrett to make up one of the most feared linebacker corps in the league.

As a rookie, White started in all 13 games he was available for. He finished with 91 total tackles, 2.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, four recovered fumbles, two of which he returned for touchdowns.

In 2020, White had 140 tackles and nine sacks in 15 regular season games. During the Buccaneers Super Bowl run, White had 38 tackles, two interceptions and two fumbles recovered in three playoff games.

Devin White is currently on his rookie contract that runs through 2022, with a fifth year team option available.

Heading into the 2021 season, White and the Buccaneers return the majority of the Super Bowl team and will look to go back-to-back.
