After throwing for 80 yards and rushing for 59 yards and a touchdown, LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels was removed from Saturday’s 21-17 win over Auburn by head coach Brian Kelly. Following the game, Kelly spoke to the media and described the severity of Daniels’ injury.

Daniels, the starting quarterback for the Tigers against Auburn, was 8-of-20 in the air at the time of his injury but made a key play late in the second quarter. With just 15 seconds on the clock, Daniels ran the ball for a one-yard touchdown to cap off an 11-play, 77-yard drive. The score cut the deficit to just three points, setting up for a second half comeback.

Assuming the injury is nothing serious, as Kelly believes, it means good things for the Tigers moving forward. Daniels had thrown for over 200 yards in three of the first four games of the season before Saturday and has still yet to throw an interception on the season. Daniels has also contributed three touchdowns on the ground.

Season turning around for LSU right now

The 2022 season looked like it was in bad shape to start the season, as the Tigers lost their opener to Florida State on a blocked extra point. However, LSU has since turned things around and is sitting in good shape once again. The Tigers have won four straight games and now sit at 4-1 on the season and 2-0 in the SEC.

LSU looks to keep things rolling in the right direction next weekend and would make a massive splash if it does. The Tigers will return home to play host to the No. 8 Tennessee Volunteers in what could be a season-altering in if they pull off the upset.

The Tigers and Volunteers are slated for a 12 p.m. ET kick next Saturday in Baton Rouge. The game can be seen on ESPN.
