LSU struck first against Alabama in their marquee matchup, with running back John Emery Jr making a highlight-reel juke for the score. Emery scored a 30-yard touchdown off a wild move on the sideline, tip-toeing the boundary before jumping past the last line of defense for the touchdown.
Emery was left unchecked coming out of the backfield by the Alabama defense and caught an easy pass with plenty of field in front of him. Instead of picking up just the first down, Emery began to high-step and set up the defense for a move — narrowly avoiding the sideline. The LSU star made a huge cut around the eight-yard line and finished the play for a 7-0 lead against the No. 6 team in the country.
