Leonard Fournette congratulated LSU running back Tyrion Davis-Price following his record-breaking performance. Saturday against Florida, Davis-Price rushed for 287 yards — barely breaking Fournette’s single-game rushing record of 284 yards for the LSU Tigers.

“Congrats Tyrion Davis-Price,” tweeted Fournette following the performance.

His three-touchdown performance helped propel the Tigers to victory.

All in all, Davis-Price ended his day with 287 yards and three touchdowns on 36 carries. When Fournette set the prior record against Ole Miss, it took him just 16 carries to get to 284 yards and three touchdowns.

Still, while Fournette may miss his record that Davis-Price now holds, it’ll bring him solace that it was broken in victory. Additionally, Fournette had a big day in his game this week — he ran all over the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday.

In a victory for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Fournette ran for 82 yards and two touchdowns. Without his tough running, the Buccaneers may have been on upset alert.

It’s been a tough year for Fournette’s Tigers, but Davis-Price helped give them a memorable performance on Saturday. Now, they’ll attempt to build on the momentum of a huge SEC victory.

Orgeron: ‘I saw the guys that were going to step up into a starting role’

While Fournette watched Davis-Price break his record, Orgeron watched the rest of his team step up in big moments. Following the game, he gave all the credit to his players for the victory.

“I saw the guys that were going to step up into a starting role,” Orgeron said. “I saw them practice with more energy. They were more eager, they were in the office watching film. It was just kind of new energy about the football team. On Thursday, you could feel that energy. Felt really good. It’s not about me, it’s about this team. Give them the credit.”

Ed Orgeron survived another week, thanks to his team’s heart and Tyrion Davis-Price’s legs. Now, the LSU Tigers must use their momentum gained and put it towards the rest of the season.
