The LSU Tigers will be down another starter for their upcoming bowl game against Kansas State on Jan. 4. Running back Ty Davis-Price announced that not only would he miss the Tigers game against the Kansas State Wildcats, but he would be foregoing his senior season to enter the 2022 NFL draft.

Davis-Price made the announcement via Twitter, with this letter directed to Tiger nation.

The Tiger’s junior running back leads the team in rushing this season with 1,003 yards on the ground on 211 attempts. That is good enough for an average of 4.8 yards per carry and also rushed for six touchdowns.

He leaves LSU with the program’s record for most rushing yards in a single game. Davis-Price set that mark in a 49-42 win over the Florida Gators, midway through the season. He finished the game, with 287 yards rushing complemented by three rushing touchdowns on the day. That performance will cement him Tiger lore for years to come.

Davis-Price will also leave LSU as a national champion as he was a contributor to their 2019 run as a freshman. That season he had 295 yards on 64 attempts and finished with six rushing touchdowns.

LSU star receiver to stay with the team

LSU wide receiver Kayshon Boutte has issued a statement on rumors that he plans to enter the transfer portal, providing some clarity on his 2022 status. On Wednesday afternoon, the former five-star recruit took to Twitter to provide LSU fans with the latest on his transfer portal decision.

“Ignore the rumors… I’m locked in,” Boutte tweeted with a tiger emoji.

The matter-of-fact message seems to squash all transfer rumors which started online after Kayshon Boutte liked several tweets from Alabama players welcoming LSU transfer Eli Ricks.

Boutte is a major part of LSU’s offense, recording 83 catches in 16 career games with 1,243 yards and 14 touchdowns. Despite playing just six games in 2021, he finished the season with nine receiving touchdowns.

In the midst of a coaching change, LSU has lost several key contributors from past rosters to the transfer portal, including former starting quarterback Max Johnson, wide receivers Deion Smith and Trey Palmer, along with Ricks.
