Adam Miller transferred to LSU last offseason after a solid freshman campaign at Illinois. After averaging 8.3 points per game in 31 games for the BIG-10 Tournament champions, he was looking forward to playing for Will Wade in Baton Rouge. That all changed after the guard suffered a torn ACL before the start of last season.

Now, as we head into the summer, he has been cleared to return to the court per CBS’ Jon Rothstein.

The LSU team Miller will suit up for is a different from the one he committed to. After the firing of Will Wade following the SEC Tournament, the Tigers went through a mass exodus. Miller himself explored the transfer portal again before electing to return to play for new head coach Matt McMahon.

With LSU rebuilding the program from the ground up, Miller will have to be a staple coming off his injury. Now, he’ll have the rest of the summer to prepare for next season as one of the Tiger’s key pieces.

LSU guard Adam Miller announces return to Tigers

Guard Adam Miller began his collegiate career at Illinois during the 2020-2021 season before he transferred to LSU ahead of this past season. Miller unfortunately tore his ACL in the summer, and he did not play for the Tigers this year. Following the season, he entered the transfer portal.

Early in May, it was reported that he was down to two schools. He was expected to either return to LSU or leave to join the TCU Horned Frogs.

On3’s Joe Tipton reported that Miller would return to LSU this season.

Miller was the 19th-rated point guard to enter the portal during this cycle. New LSU head coach Matt McMahon has seen a complete revamp of the Tigers roster since taking over, but retaining him was a very important development at this point in the offseason.

At Illinois as a freshman, Miller played in 31 games with 29 starts, playing 25.5 minutes per game. He posted a line of 8.3 points, 2.8 rebounds, 0.8 assists and 0.6 steals. He shot 39.1% from the field at Illinois, and he shot 34% from three-point range and 68.4% from the free throw line. With the Fighting Illini, Miller was part of the team that won the Big Ten Tournament title and made it to the 2021 NCAA Tournament as a No. 1 seed.

Miller was a highly touted player in the 2020 recruiting class. He was a four-star recruit, a national top 30 player and the eighth-rated point guard, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average. He was also the second-rated player coming out of the state of Illinois.
