Denham Springs (La.) four-star safety Dashawn McBryde received an offer from LSU on Friday. He announced the news over social media.

McBryde is the No. 287 overall prospect and No. 27 safety in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 7 player in Louisiana.

The 6-foot-3, 190-pound recruit last visited Baton Rouge on March 4. According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, LSU has a commanding lead for his commitment at 74.3%.

“They’ve been pretty interested in me for some time,” McBryde told On3’s Sam Spiegelman on Jan. 3 about LSU. “What stands out is my build. I’m lengthy and strong, and LSU just wants to know me a little better before they offer.”

It can be inferred that the Tigers are now a school of heavy interest for McBryde, now that he has an offer from them. He spoke highly of the program with Billy Embody of The Bengal Tiger.

“It’s LSU,” McBryde said on Feb. 9. “Always been good. It’s a really good program to go to. The atmosphere, the culture. You go to one of the games and the stands are just crazy. The staff is really good.”

“I like him,” he added about quarterbacks coach Joe Sloan. “He knows how to communicate. He knows I don’t talk too much, but he really gets me when we talk.”

LSU already finding in-state recruiting success

At the moment, LSU’s 2024 recruiting class contains 11 players. It ranks No. 10 in the 2024 On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 6 in the SEC.

One Tigers commit is a safety: Bellaire (Texas) Shadow Creek four-star Maurice Williams, the No. 87 overall prospect and No. 7 safety in the On3 Industry Ranking. He is currently LSU’s highest-rated pledge.

According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, the Tigers are trending to land eight of the top 10 players in Louisiana. They include McBryde, Lafayette (La.) Acadiana five-star defensive lineman Dominick McKinley, Jackson (La.) East Feliciana four-star tight end Trey’Dez Green, Marrero (La.) John Ehret four-star cornerback Wardell Mack and Many (La.) four-star linebacker Tylen Singleton.

The exceptions are Destrehan (La.) four-star linebacker Kolaj Cobbins and Lafayette (La.) Lafayette Christian Academy four-star cornerback Ju’Juan Johnson. Cobbins is already committed to LSU, while Johnson chose Colorado in February.
