Arnold is the No. 92 overall player and seventh-best quarterback in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power named Arnold one of the five players in the 2023 recruiting cycle he was excited to see play this past fall.
“Signs point to Arnold having a big debut season at Denton (Texas) Guyer,” Power said. “He’s shown well in spot duty as a backup with his quick arm and ability to make plays with his feet. Arnold has also turned in strong performances at camps and on with Guyer in 7-on-7 action.”
Those signs were correct.
Arnold threw for 3,931 yards and 34 touchdowns while adding 659 yards and 12 touchdowns on the ground. He led Denton Guyer to the state championship game where they lost to Austin (Texas) Westlake.
Earlier Thursday, he was named the 2021 DFW offensive player of the year by the Dallas Morning News.
Power watched Arnold’s game against Little Elm (Texas) High, which had On3 five-star cornerback Terrance Brooks patrolling the defensive backfield.
Arnold still managed to run the show.
“Jackson Arnold finished the game 11 of 20 for 135 yards and a touchdown,” Power wrote. “He also ran for 87 yards and another score on 13 carries. The speed and rushing ability were on display in the first half, when Arnold took a quarterback draw up the middle for a 59-yard touchdown. We were most impressed with his tough, physical rushing and the ability to bounce off tacklers. As a passer, Arnold has a quick release, flipping the ball out to the boundary without strain.”
