With Saturday’s loss to Kentucky, LSU dropped to 3-3 on the season. And since winning the national championship in 2019, the Tigers are .500.

Reinforcements are not on the way, either. LSU head coach Ed Orgeron confirmed Monday neither safety Major Burns and defensive tackle Joseph Evans will be available for Saturday’s game against Florida. No timetable has been set for either of their returns.

The Tigers are ranked 73rd in the nation in team defense at the midway point of the season, allowing 385 yards per game. LSU hosts No. 20 Florida on Saturday.

Burns transferred to LSU this spring from Georgia. A four-star prospect from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the defensive back missed the Kentucky game, too. In five games this season he has 25 tackles with an interception and two pass deflections.

A redshirt sophomore, Evans was also injured in the Auburn game and did not play this past weekend. He has yet to record a tackle for loss and has eight tackles this season.

“Joe’s going to be unavailable this week. Major Burns is going to be unavailable this week,” Orgeron said in his Monday press conference. “We got Glen Logan back, I think that Glen is going to be able to play this week. Glen played a lot of games for us, so that’s going to give us a boost inside.”

Logan will make his return. He has yet to play a game this season, after he broke his right foot in the preseason. The defensive tackle finished last year with 17 tackles in eight games.

LSU continues to remain vague about when Derek Stingley Jr. could return. The defensive back had a medical procedure done on his left foot earlier this month.

LSU star Kayshon Boutte expected to miss rest of season

The LSU Tigers are losing star wideout Kayshon Boutte for the rest of the season, according to On3 national college football reporter Matt Zenitz.

One of the top receivers in college football and the top receiver on LSU’s roster, Boutte was carted off the field during Saturday’s game at Kentucky.

Trying to make a catch near the LSU sideline, Boutte landed awkwardly when he was working to get a foot inbounds. The sophomore receiver and Louisiana native has been a bright spot this season on an LSU team that is 3-3 overall and 1-2 in SEC play.
