Two of the bigger names expected to be on the injury report this week for LSU are WR Nic Anderson, who was injured this weekend in their loss against Alabama, and LB Whit Weeks, who has missed three straight games in being out for almost a month now for the Tigers. With that, Frank Wilson addressed both of their statuses going into the next few days, with their next game coming up against Arkansas on Saturday afternoon.

Wilson shared the latest on both players’ respective recoveries during his press conference on Monday. He began with Anderson, who was thought to have suffered a significant knee injury after being carted off and later returning on crutches in Tuscaloosa on Saturday. However, after testing this weekend following the loss to the Tide, the redshirt junior receiver has a more optimistic outlook than was believed, with them likely to have a better idea of if he can play against the Razorbacks later in this week.

“So, Nic Anderson first. Positive, you know. We were really worried on the sideline that it could be something long-term. It is not. It does not require a procedure, and so we’re day-by-day in a rehabilitation, preventative manner with him to get him along the way,” said Wilson. “I don’t know, if, you know, he’ll be ready this morning. He came in, of course, yesterday, Sunday. And, again, today, we’ll continue to monitor it to see.”

“Probably, about Wednesday, we’ll have a real idea if he’ll be up for this game or the next, and moving beyond,” said Wilson.

Anderson has been a decent pass-catcher this season after transferring to Baton Rouge. He has a dozen catches on the fall for 106 yards and two touchdowns, and was having one of his better games this season before exiting against ‘Bama with a pair of receptions for 32 yards.

Then, Weeks has been sidelined for a while now with a bone bruise in his right ankle. Wilson said that the junior linebacker tried hyping himself into playing against the Tide on Saturday, but that he still wasn’t able to go yet and may still not be pending how he continues to tolerate the issue or not going into preparation for the ‘Hogs on Saturday.

“Whit? You know, his thing is, again, as tolerated, as how he finished the game,” Wilson said. “Once we got out there, you know, and we’re in Tuscaloosa, and the juices are flowing, and he’s like, ‘Coach, I can go! I can go’. Well, yeah, right – you couldn’t go yesterday. But that’s just your adrenaline, alright, and so he got himself in a frenzy of a position and he’s a competitor so he wanted to play. But you can’t tell me the day of the game, right.”

“And so, we’ll see. We’ll see how it goes. I’m uncertain right now. Probably hopeful, without medically using the term doubtful or whatever,” Wilson said. “But he was in great spirits, he’s eager. He wants to be back out there, but we won’t put him out there until he can protect himself and play at the level that allows him to be elite.”

Weeks has now only appeared in five full games this season for LSU. He has posted just 26 tackles in total with a sack and a fumble recovery in his limited action this season.

Both Anderson and Weeks sound quite questionable to play against Arkansas come kickoff at Tiger Stadium this weekend. We won’t have a better idea of how much that could change for either, for better or for worse, until the release of the SEC Availability Report on Wednesday.
