Former Penn State running back Noah Cain officially announced his transfer destination on Thursday night. The former Nittany Lion announced that he’ll be joining Brian Kelly and the LSU Tigers.

Noah Cain rushed for 778 yards and 12 touchdowns, adding 24 receptions for 154 yards over his Penn State career before opting to transfer. His best season came as a freshman in 2019, when he set career-highs in yards, yards per carry and touchdowns. Cain played just one quarter in 2020 before suffering a season-ending lower-body injury.

Entering college, Cain ranked as a top-100 player in On3’s consensus rankings and stood No. 6 among running backs. Despite his pedigree, he fell down the depth chart after the injury and now looks to find a larger role with the LSU Tigers. In high school, he suited up for Denton Guyer. In 2016, he was a second-team All-State selection. Cain was also named the Denton Record Chronicle Offensive Player of the Year. He finished his high school career at IMG Academy (Bradenton, Florida).

The Tigers actually recruited Cain coming out of high school. When he picked Penn State in December of 2018, he chose them over Texas, LSU, Auburn, and others.

The move to Baton Rouge is a familiar one for Cain, as he grew up there. He’ll join John Emery, Corey Kiner, Armoni Goodwin, and Kevontre Bradford in the LSU backfield.

Cain will have two seasons of eligibility entering the 2022 campaign.

Former LSU running back Tyrion Davis-Price declared for the 2022 NFL Draft a few weeks ago. In three seasons with the Tigers, he racked up 1,745 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns. He set the school record for rushing yards in a game (287) against the Florida Gators earlier in the 2021 season.

On3’s James Fletcher III also contributed to this report.
