LSU is set to get a huge boost on the offensive end, with running back Armoni Goodwin getting back in the fray. Head coach Brian Kelly announced the running back will play on Saturday night against the Ole Miss Rebels at Tiger Stadium.

Goodwin injured missed three games in total for LSU, getting hurt during a nonconference matchup against New Mexico. It’s been a hamstring bothering Goodwin and after practicing this week, Kelly is ready to let him give it a go.

Kelly praised the LSU medical staff for getting Goodwin back onto the field. He said it’s “amazing” the running back will be playing after having surgery on his hamstring.

“He practiced well,” Kelly said. “He’ll play. It’s a really good story. To do a surgical repair on a hamstring and for him to be able to play is amazing.”

Despite missing a few games, Goodwin is still second on LSU in touchdowns, having four. In total, he has rushed for 199 yards and is nearly averaging six yards per carry. While quarterback Jayden Daniels is the program’s leading rusher heading into Ole Miss, Josh Williams and John Emery have been carrying the load at running back.

Heading into the week, Kelly was optimistic Goodwin was going to be ready to play. It seems as if a solid week of practice was the difference and LSU will have one of their top weapons available for a key rivalry game.

“And Armoni [Goodwin], we’ll practice him on Tuesday and see what we can get,” Kelly said on Monday. “He wants to play. Our doctors have cleared him. We’ll see what kind of volume we can get out of him, and hopefully, it goes well during the week.”

In what’s been a good ground attack for LSU, Goodwin should be a positive addition to the offense.
