On3 top-50 S Xavier Filsaime sets LSU visit
McKinney (Texas) four-star safety Xavier Filsaime will visit LSU on March 4, he announced on Friday.
Filsaime is the No. 62 overall prospect in the 2024 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 5 safety and the No. 10 junior recruit in the state of Texas.
On3 rates Filsaime higher than other recruiting services, according to the Industry Comparison. Per the 2024 On300, he is also the No. 40 overall prospect, No. 2 safety and No. 9 player in Texas.
The 5-foot-11.5, 180-pounder holds 29 offers including Alabama, Georgia, Florida, LSU, Michigan and USC. According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, Georgia is the favorite to land a commitment from Filsaime at 27.5%.
Filsaime recently talked to The Bengal Tiger’s Billy Embody about his interest in the Tigers. He went to Baton Rouge last fall for the Tigers game against Alabama.
“It was crazy,” Filsaime told Embody. ” That game right there showed me how much people really ride for their school. Them LSU fans ain’t no joke. Everybody was so engaged and involved.
“When they scored, the whole stadium went silent, then as soon as he caught the ball in the endzone, the crowd went crazy.”
According to Filsaime, he has been in constant contact with LSU safeties coach Kerry Cooks.
“I love how he can hold a conversation. Shoot, he’s a really good coach,” Filsaime said in the interview. “He reminds me of my school’s DB coach. One day, I could imagine myself playing for him. The guys that he builds up and that he develops. At the end of the day, I want a coach that can develop me. I don’t want to go to college and go to a Power Five program and come back three or four years later still being the same person.”
Filsaime will also take visits to Florida the second week of March and will take a visit to Georgia on June 16.
