Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Calvary Christian four-star recruit Carl Cherenfant has committed to Memphis.

Cherenfant, a 6-foot-4 class of 2023 shooting guard, ultimately chose the Tigers over St. John’s and UCF. He also received offers from USF, LSU, Virginia Tech, among others.

The Florida native is Memphis’ second commitment to the 2023 class. He joins three-star guard Ryan Forrest.

Cherenfant is the No. 112 overall prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, the average ranking from all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 24 shooting guard and the No. 11 player in the state of Florida.

Cherenfant on his commitment to Memphis

“I chose Memphis because I felt at home there and Penny and the coaching staff put me in a position to reach my dreams,” Cherefant said to On3.

What type of player is Memphis getting in Carl Cherenfant?

“They are getting a hard-working person and someone who cares about winning above all,” he says.

Cherenfant has a message for Memphis fans.

“I’m ready to get Memphis back to a Final Four run and we are thinking about championships every year.”
