Others were in the mix at different times, but it came down to Miami and Texas for Malik Agbo.

The four-star offensive lineman out of Federal Way (Wash.) Todd Beamer made his decision about a week ago.

“It was not easy, and I knew it was a big-time decision, but in early December, I decided on Texas,” Agbo said. “I knew I wanted to go there and be a part of what coach Steve Sarkisian is building.”

The 6-foot-5, 329-pounder went through the process. After the pandemic restrictions were lifted, he took his visits and got face-to-face time with coaches.

Then Agbo did a fair share of in-home visits the last couple of weeks. Over time, he knew Texas was right for him.

“I am big on player development and I believe in coach (Kyle) Flood. He started recruiting me when he was at Alabama, so I have had a lot of time to get to know him.

“I like him as a person, he is a great coach, and I know he can develop me as an offensive lineman.

“That connection with coach Flood, combined with what he is doing on the offensive line and what coach Sark is doing with the team made Texas a great fit.

“I feel like they are going to do big-time things at Texas.”

Texas picked up commitments from former Oregon offensive line commits, Kelvin Banks and Cameron Williams over the weekend, then added another offensive lineman, Neto Umeozulu Monday.

Agbo is excited to be a part of the group coming in.

“Texas is building something strong,” Agbo said. “I know coach Flood and coach Sark knows the standard Alabama had because they worked there, and they are bringing that to Texas.

“The players are coming and I like what Texas is building.”
