Miami moved up three spots in the College Football Playoff rankings this week, from No. 18 to No. 15 as the highest-rated team out of the ACC. That said, Carson Beck isn’t at all concerned about where they currently stand.

To open his media availability on Wednesday, Beck was asked for his reaction to the CFP Rankings released on Tuesday night. He asked to be reminded of that new rating for his team, though, as he had no thoughts on it besides needing to keep bettering that position with three more wins.

“What’s our spot?” Beck asked. “Yeah, sure. I don’t know. Again, I kind of talked about it last week, but all we can do is just continue to win. So, that’s really all we can control, and just trying to execute each and every day, and then ultimately, on Saturday, going out there and put up more points than our opponent.”

As of this week’s ranking, Miami (7-2) is currently projected to be in the field for the CFP. However, the Hurricanes are in that slot right now as the highest-ranked team out of the ACC, but are in need of a lot of help. There are six total teams ahead of them to get to the ACC Championship. No. 16 Georgia Tech, No. 19 Virginia, SMU, No. 22 Pittsburgh, and Duke are all ahead of them as one-loss teams in league play, and No. 20 Louisville is tied but ahead of them at two losses with a head-to-head tiebreaker over them.

Because of that, Miami may more so have to make its case for the playoff as an at-large at 10-2 overall. That’s a taller task with the resumés of the teams in front of them there on the bubble, with there presently being four at-larges ahead of the Hurricanes. But, although having split their last four games, The ‘U has three winnable-enough games in front of it to control enough of its destiny to get to 10-2 and see what that means for them as far as the ACC Championship.

Again, none of this matters anyway with a third loss. So, as far as being ranked or making the playoff goes, Beck is only worried about that for the ‘Canes.

“So, again, wherever we get ranked is somewhat in our control, somewhat out of our control,” Beck said. “But, again, not our worry as we move on throughout the week and these last three games.”
