Miami Hurricanes wide receiver Mike Harley showed off his personality in a clip released by the ACC Network promoting ‘All Access with Miami Football’

“Mike’s like a class clown, but on a team,” Miami quarterback D’Eriq King says in the clip. “He’s a team clown, a locker room clown, he’s always joking about something. I’ve never seen Mike have a bad day.”

Between clips of the Hurricanes in practice and Harley dancing, singing and joking, Miami head coach Manny Diaz spoke on the atmosphere of Hurricanes practices.

“We try not to take ourselves to seriously,” Diaz said. “We want to have a good time and we want to work really hard”

Mike Harley gets serious by the end of clip, praising members of the Hurricanes secondary, including Bubba Bolden, before confidently stating “I’m going to bust his ass.”

“Best on the best,” Harley said. “I’m going against a first rounder every day. Bubba Bolden, Gurvan Hall, we got a couple guys like that. I learn things from them and they learn things from me. But, at the end of the day, I’m going to bust his ass because I know the guy on the other team is not going to spare him.”

Mike Harley is entering his fifth season at Miami. In 2020, Harley led the Hurricanes in receiving yards with 799 and tied for the team lead in receiving touchdowns with seven touchdown receptions. In his Miami career, Harley has 1,615 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns, averaging 12.9 yards per catch for his career.

Heading into the season, Harley projects to be one of King’s favorite targets, alongside Oklahoma transfer wide receiver Charleston Rambo. Behind them, the Hurricanes have young talent like Key’Shawn Smith, Michael Redding III and Xavier Restrepo expected to contribute offensively.

Miami will look to build off last season’s 8-3 record, that saw the Hurricanes drop games to Clemson, North Carolina and Oklahoma State in the Cheez-It Bowl. Behind King, Harley, Rambo and a three-headed monster of running backs Cam’Ron Harris, Jaylan Knighton and Donald Chaney Jr, the Hurricanes offense will look to get off to a fast start in 2021. Defensively, there are questions up front, but the secondary is full of veterans like the aforementioned Bolden and Hall, as well as talented freshman James Williams, who stands 6-foot-5 and could play all over the defense.

Miami opens its season on Saturday against Alabama in the Chick-fil-A kickoff game in Atlanta.
