Long Beach (Calif.) Long Beach Poly four-star linebacker Dylan Williams will head to MIchigan State for an official visit on June 9. He announced the news on Twitter.

The visit to East Lansing will be the second for Williams. He was on campus for the first time on April 15.

Williams is the No. 109 overall prospect and No. 9 linebacker in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 13 player in California.

Williams released a top seven list consisting of Alabama, Miami, Michigan, Oregon, Penn State, Texas and UCLA. While Michigan State didn’t make that initial list, Williams acknowledged that he’s wanted to visit Michigan State for some time now.

“They are for sure a top school for me,” Williams told SpartanMag. “The atmosphere this weekend was amazing, the weather was great, and the fans were out. It is a great college town.”

Michigan State joins the list of Miami, Michigan and Texas as schools that will receive an official from Williams over the summer.

“This visit has been in the works for a long time,” Williams said. “My relationship has grown a lot with the coaching staff, especially with Coach Hazelton. I was able to spend the entire weekend with him and he clearly made it known I am his top linebacker target and I am his guy.

“It means everything (to hear that) coming from him. I truly am blessed.”

Landing Williams would be huge for Mel Tucker

Michigan State had its struggles on the field in 2022 but Mel Tucker and his coaching staff were able to still put together a top-25 recruiting class.

Michigan State’s 2023 class finished with 17 signees. That group was ranked as the No. 22 class in the country and No. 4 in the Big Ten.

Three of their signees finished as top-200 prospects. They were and four-star linebacker Jordan Hall and four-star EDGEs Bai Jobe and Andrew Depaepe.

Michigan State’s 2024 class currently consists of four commitments and ranks as the No. 23 class in the country and the No. 6 class in the Big Ten.

So far the Spartans only have one player ranked in the top-200 in four-star cornerback Jamari Howard.
