Michigan State entered Week 3 undefeated and ranked No. 11 in the country, but ran into Washington and the Huskies’ star quarterback Michael Penix‘s 397 passing yards. Penix’s ability to carve up defenses isn’t unique to just the Spartans, but head coach Mel Tucker gave a brutally honest take on his coaching abilities after the 39-28 loss.

“Hell yeah I take it personal. I take it all personal. … The resume is on the tape. Right now, I’m a horseshit football coach,” Tucker said, via Chris Solari on Twitter.

Penix ranks No. 2 in the nation in passing yards (1,079) and has a 10-1 touchdown-to-interception ratio so far this season. His 88.6 QBR is ninth best in the country, but Washington remained unranked until defeating Tucker’s Spartans.

Still, Tucker believes his team is one of the best in the country and should be able to shut down any star quarterback. Penix is one of the nation’s best statistically, but with quarterbacks like CJ Stroud and JJ McCarthy in the same conference – it could be a long year for Tucker and his secondary if things aren’t sorted out soon.

Michigan State head coach Mel Tucker releases NFT

Michigan State head coach Mel Tucker had a very successful season during his first year as the head man of the Spartans–leading them to a 11-2 overall record. He’s one of the game’s rising stars in the coaching profession and he landed a massive contract extension with the Spartans last year. The talented head coach decided to join the wave of the future on Thursday by releasing his very own NFT, non-fungible token.

It’s a pretty sleek design and he’s definitely one of the first head coaches to release their very own NFT in college athletics. It’s also very interesting that ownership of the NFT will provide “access unlike anything seen in sports,” per his announcement.
