FOX Sports reporter Jenny Taft expected to talk with Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh after the Wolverines’ win over Maryland on Saturday. Instead, Harbaugh brought someone else with him: running back Blake Corum.

“This is the guy you want to talk to right here,” Harbaugh said. “This guy was a stud today. What a game, what a game. Great job.”

Corum had a monster day in the Wolverines’ win over the Terrapins at The Big House, totaling a career-high 243 yards and two touchdowns to help lead Michigan to the 34-27 victory and improve to 4-0. It was a much-needed performance, especially considering the Wolverines were without Donovan Edwards in the backfield.

Afterward, Corum didn’t hold back about what the big performance meant to him.

“I just love this game, man, I love this team, I love this Block M and I love my guys,” Corum said. “I just came out here and played for them and they played for me. We got the job done. We’ve got some things to fix, but it was a great game against a great team. I just do it for the people that can’t do it.

“Earlier this week, Aidan Hutchinson — shouting him out — I played for him, too. I sent him a video earlier this week. I feel for the people that can’t do it because they would love to be in my spot, so why not give it my all, you know? So I just love this game. … Great team win.”

Corum’s huge performance came against the perfect opponent for the story. He’s a Maryland native and played ball with some Terrapins players from the area. That, he said, added to the importance of the career day.

“It was fun to be out there with guys I used to play with before,” Corum said. “This game of football, it doesn’t last forever. So when you get to play with teammates that you played with — youth ball, high school — it’s all fun, man. It was fun out there today.”

But despite the victory, Corum knows the team has areas to improve. At one point, Maryland had a 13-10 lead and looked to be rolling offensively. But things started going the Wolverines’ way, which is why watching the tape is going to be important this week.

“I just want to see what we can do better,” Corum said. “Go to the film room. Where can we grow, what can we continue to improve on and go from there.”
