Michigan running back Blake Corum has had nothing short of an electric season, as he leads the Wolverine’s rushing attack that ranks first in the Big Ten with 241.7 yards per game. Corum has strung together four straight 100-plus yard outings on the ground in his last four games, and has surely generated himself some buzz about potentially earning himself some individual post season awards, including the biggest one of them all, the Heisman Trophy. Corum was asked about the potential post season awards he could earn, but those seem to be the least of his worries.

“I honestly don’t care, that’s the truth. If it comes it comes, if it doesn’t it doesn’t,” Corum said.

That may be the truth, but at his current pace, it looks a lot more likely than not for Corum to take home some type of hardware. He currently is tied for the national lead in rushing touchdowns with 13, scoring in each game he has played in so far this season, including a five-touchdown outing against UConn.

Corum’s gained 901 yards on the ground this season, which ranks seventh in the country and second in the Big Ten behind Illinois running back Chase Brown, who leads the nation in rushing and carries. Corum has some great numbers, but apparently the only ones he cares about are the ones in the Wolverine’s win-and-loss column.

“I’m all about winning, I’m all about getting my team better and really just week to week I know if we keep doing what we’re doing and I handle my business there might be an opportunity for me at the end of the year to reach those goals,” Corum explained. “But as of right now we have five games left.”

It’s hard to do much better than Michigan is doing at winning at the moment, as they remain one of only six unbeaten teams in the country and rank No. 4 in the latest AP Poll. Additionally, the Wolverines are coming off of their bye week, and their extra rest and preparation may allow Corum and company to finish the season even stronger than they’ve already started it.

But for now, Corum and the Wolverines are focused on their next matchup against rival Michigan State, the team that gave them their only regular season loss of last season. Last season the Wolverine’s entered that game 7-0 just like they will this time around, as they look to not let history repeat itself this weekend.

“I don’t think about it, I’m ready for Michigan State,” Corum said.
