Michigan Wolverines center Hunter Dickinson will be returning to Ann Arbor next season, looking to make a deep run with head coach Juwan Howard. In order to do so, the transfer portal was going to be an asset for Michigan, needing to add some quality players to the roster.

Terrence Shannon Jr. is a player the Wolverines were going after, coming via Texas Tech. However, there have been issues with making the transfer official and officially making Shannon an official Michigan player. It caused Dickinson to call out Red Raiders head coach Mark Adams over the situation, calling him a “coward.”

@CoachAdams_TTU is a coward,” Dickinson said. How are you going to deny a kid the chance to play where he wanted to go. Were you really under that much pressure by your boosters to not sign off on him to take summer classes there to be able to graduate even after he announced he’s not coming back?

“You should be ashamed of yourself for using your power over a kid to prevent him from going where he wanted to just because you wanted him to stay at your school. Recruits and their families know that if you go to TT and don’t like it you might not be able to go where you want.”

The tweets have since been deleted by Dickinson.

Shannon announced his transfer destination and he will in fact be playing inside of the Big Ten. However, it will be for the Illinois Fighting Illini under head coach Brad Underwood. Dickinson is clearly frustrated with the decision, wanting to add a quality player to play alongside him.

Hunter Dickinson not the only Michigan player to call out Mark Adams

The displeasure surrounding Adams goes further than Dickinson. Jace Howard, who is the son of head coach Juwan Howard, tweeted his displeasure with the way Adams handled the situation and although it’s already been deleted, Jeff Goodman was able to grab a screenshot.

“S/O to the people who hinder student-athletes from getting college degrees and who are unwilling to help them in the next step of their lives just for their own selfish agendas,” Howard said. “Real class act…”

Michigan will now have to go up against Shannon in Big Ten play this season, with both programs wanting to compete for a conference championship. The Wolverines do not currently have Texas Tech on the schedule, a place where this beef could be resolved.

For now, it’s an internet rivalry that will surely bleed into the season.
