Michigan Wolverines head coach Jim Harbaugh has dealt with some major coaching turnover this offseason. Both his offensive and defensive coordinator have left the program in favor of other jobs. Now, he will be losing another assistant coach, this time to the NFL.

According to Matt Zenitz of On3, the San Francisco 49ers will be hiring Stephen Adegoke to a defensive quality control role. Adegoke has been a graduate assistant on the Wolverines’ staff for just one season.

Before working with the Wolverines, Adegoke worked on staff for both the Florida Gators and the Mississippi State Bulldogs. He played in college football in Starkville for two seasons (2017, 2018) after transferring in from San Diego Mesa College. Adegoke played in 16 career games while with Mississippi State, recording 14 career tackles, an interceptions, two passes defended, and forcing a fumble.

Harbaugh will now be looking to make another replacement on the defensive side of the ball. Defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald left the program to take the same role with the Baltimore Ravens and worked with the other Harbaugh brother, John. Jessee Minter was hired away from the Vanderbilt Commodores to take over the position.

As for Adegoke and the San Francisco 49ers, he will be working with DeMeco Ryans and head coach Kyle Shanahan. This will be Adegoke’s first opportunity in the NFL and will be working with one of the top untils in the league.

Michigan Wolverines hire former quarterback to staff

Denard Robinson is officially heading back to Ann Arbor. Michigan announced the hiring Thursday afternoon.

Robinson is returning to the Wolverines as the program’s assistant director of player personnel. On3’s Ant Wright first reported the hiring on Wednesday. Robinson played for Michigan from 2009-12 before heading to the NFL as a fifth-round pick in 2013. He also played in the failed AAF in 2019 for the Atlanta Legends.

He played in the NFL for four years and briefly coached with the Jacksonville Jaguars from 2019-20. Now, he’s returning to his alma mater in what could be a huge recruiting boost.

“Denard is an energetic guy who always has a smile on his face,” Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh said in a statement. “He will be a positive addition to our program in both the player personnel and player development areas. Denard has been an active member of this campus and we know he will bring that same enthusiasm and love for Michigan to our building every day. We are excited to have Denard back home at Michigan helping our team.”
