Top-150 prospect Cameron Christie commits to Minnesota
Class of 2023 three-star Cameron Christie tells On3 he’s committed to Minnesota.
The 6-foot-5, 165-pound shooting guard from Rolling Meadows (Ill.) High ultimately chose the Gophers over Iowa State. Christie also received offers from Illinois, Iowa, Ohio State, Michigan State, and others.
Christie is the younger brother of Max Christie, who starred at Michigan State before being selected as the 35th overall pick to the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2022 NBA Draft.
According to the On3 Consensus, Christie is ranked as the No. 137 overall prospect in the 2023 class. He’s also the No. 31 shooting guard and the No. 2 player in the state of Illinois. On3’s evaluators are slightly higher than the industry on Christie, ranking him 113th overall in the class.
Christie becomes Minnesota’s lone 2023 class commitment, after three-star small forward Kadyn Betts reclassified to 2022, joining the Gophers a year early.

“I chose Minnesota because they stuck around through the good and the bad,” Christie said to On3. “They showed unparalleled belief and support in who I am as a person and as a basketball player. They kept recruiting me hard even when everybody thought I was going somewhere else and were willing to pursue me even when popular opinion thought they had no chance.”
Scouting Summary
Cameron Christie has a basketball frame with long arms. He is a smooth spot shooter. What stands out when watching him play is his vision. He can be a bit unselfish at times, but his head is up and he moves the ball. He will need to continue adding strength, is currently very thin. The younger brother of Michigan State’s Max Christie. Both parents played in college. Like to see him continue to tighten the handle, but he makes good decisions in the half-court. Despite size, he finished well through contact in the AAU setting.
