Brentwood (Tenn.) Ravenwood four-star quarterback Chris Parson has committed to Mississippi State. The five-foot-11, 208 pound signal-caller chose the Bulldogs over SMU, TCU and Virginia Tech.

Parson was previously committed to Florida State. He decommitted from the Seminoles on July 12 and took an unofficial visit to Mississippi State 18 days later.

The four-star is the No. 349 overall prospect and No. 19 quarterback in the 2023 On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 8 player in Tennessee.

Parson is currently the highest-ranked prospect in the Bulldogs’ 2023 recruiting class, which ranked No. 36 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 11 in the SEC prior to his commitment. The group contains 15 commitments and is comprised of one four-star, 13 three-stars and one unranked prospect.

Mississippi State received one of Parson’s official visits, along with Florida State and SMU. The Bulldogs offered Parson on May 28, nearly a year into his commitment with the Seminoles.

At the Elite 11 Finals earlier this summer, Parson received the “Gamer” superlative from On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power. “Chris Parson showed to be a high-energy competitor on more than one occasion at the Elite 11 Finals,” Power wrote. “The Brentwood (Tenn.) Ravenwood signal caller won the hole shot competition on Tuesday night. While he struggled a bit during the pro day workout on Day 2, we saw a bounce back in 7-on-7. Parson turned in one of the better 7-on-7 sessions on Thursday, hitting 14 of 17 passes for three touchdowns. The Seminole commit elevated his game in competitive situations over the three days.”
