Isaac Smith injury update: Report reveals Mississippi State DB's status for Egg Bowl vs. Ole Miss

Mississippi State All-SEC safety Isaac Smith is set to return for Friday’s Egg Bowl matchup against No. 7 Ole Miss, ESPN’s Pete Thamel reports. He had been listed as questionable this week on Mississippi State‘s SEC Availability Report.

He missed last week’s game against Missouri with a lower-body injury. On the season, Smith has recorded 10 tackles, one interception, and three pass deflections.

While the rivalry game is massive for Ole Miss‘ potential SEC Championship chances, the game is extremely important for Mississippi State as well. The Bulldogs head into the game with a 5-6 record, needing just one win to clinch bowl eligibility for the first time under head coach Jeff Lebby.
