Kimani Hamilton, a 6-foot-7 small forward out of Clinton (Miss.) Clinton has signed with Mississippi State basketball for the class of 2022, he tells On3.

Hamilton is the Bulldogs’ third commitment of the class. He joins three-star Riley Kugel and JUCO transfer Jaykwon Walton.

Hamilton ultimately chose Mississippi State over Alabama and Ole Miss. He also received offers from Georgetown, Creighton, Georgia, Houston, amongst others.

Hamilton on his decision

Kimani Hamilton was raised in a Bulldog home. His father, Tang Hamilton, played at Mississippi State from 1997-2001. Kimani says he grew up a Mississippi State fan, but he didn’t just pick them because his dad went there. He says “I did what’s best for me.”

Kimani says his dad did not show any bias during the recruiting process. “He put his hands back and was like ‘go wherever you want and wherever is best for you.’ That’s what he always told me.”

So why Mississippi State?

“They have great coaches,” Hamilton said. “The coaching staff is unbelievably great. They always check up on me. They recruited me very hard. The players that are there, they’re very cool. A lot of fun guys to be around to play basketball. It feels like home.”

What was the coaching staff’s recruiting pitch?

“They always told me that they’re going to use me to the best of my abilities,” Hamilton said. “They’re going to give me the best chance and try to help me get to the level where I want to get to. They always admire how well I pass the ball and that I’m a big guard.”

How does Hamilton describe his game?

“I can do everything on the court,” Hamilton said. “Rebound, shoot, finish, pass. Coach Ben Howland says one of my greatest talents is passing the ball. I have good vision on the court and I love dropping dimes to my teammates.”
